Merry Christmas from Garden Square!

18th December 2019

It is now one week until Christmas Day and seasonal festivities are well underway in and around Garden Square! From gorgeous gift ideas to tempting treats and the Letchworth Nutcracker Trail to our very own Santa’s Grotto, there’s no better place to be on the lead up to the big day.

Open for Business

If you’re yet to get goodies for your nearest and dearest, then don’t fret, Garden Square’s stores will be open until Christmas Day. Please note that individual store opening hours may vary, so check with retailers before visiting to avoid disappointment.

Christmas opening times for our malls:
Friday 20th December: 7am – 9pm
Christmas Eve: 7am – 6pm
Christmas Day: CLOSED
Boxing Day: 8am – 6pm
New Year’s Day: 8am – 6pm

At all other times, normal opening hours apply.

Santa Claus

Santa Claus has returned to Garden Square this year. The jolly old fellow with the big belly and bushy beard will be in his grotto this Saturday, where children can meet him and receive a gift. The grotto is open 10am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 4pm. Entry is £3 per child or £5 for 2 children, with all monies going to the Prospects Trust and 1st Baldock (Templars) Cub Scouts.

The Letchworth Nutcracker Trail

Until Sunday 22nd December, there are 21 Nutcracker Soldiers hiding in Letchworth’s stores – so be on your guard! These festive figures are all displaying different symbols. Quick march your way to the Love Letchworth office at 76 Eastcheap to pick up your Nutcracker Trail Map then, use it to note down the symbol each Nutcracker character is holding.

Completed forms can then be submitted to the Garden Square letterbox next to the Reverse Vending Machine or the Love Letchworth office, for the chance to win a festive hamper worth £100! Each trail map also features a Nutcracker picture which can be coloured in by children. Completed and submitted pictures will be displayed in a retail unit in Garden Square – with one picture chosen to win a family set of tickets to Letchworth’s Ice Rink.

Offers and Promotions

Many of our stores already have sales, offers and discounts available to shoppers – it’s the perfect time to bag a bargain! After Christmas Day, however, you can expect to see even more cut-price finds in our shops. Don’t miss out and be sure to head back to Garden Square from Boxing Day onwards.

2019

2019 has been a great year for Garden Square. The shopping centre achieved WorldHost Recognised Business status, after being recognised for commitment to customer service. We also supported Purple Tuesday in November, helping to improve the customer experience for disabled individuals. Despite a difficult time for the retail sector, we have also welcomed a range of new and exciting tenants to the centre – including various pop up shops. All of which have proved extremely popular with visitors and we look forward to welcoming more in 2020.

Throughout the warmer months, we also hosted our ever-popular ‘Summer of Fun’ schedule. With the help of our Kids’ Club, Letchworth families were able to access plenty of free and fun activities while school was out. This included Mega Mondays, Workshop Wednesdays and Fitness Fridays.

2020

Garden Square is looking forward to the New Year and everything the next decade will bring. New additions are expected at the shopping centre and we will continue to provide an engaging events programme for all our visitors. Keep your eyes peeled to our websiteFacebook and Twitter to ensure you’re up to date with all the latest developments.

Garden Square’s Centre Manager, Jack Philbin, says: “2019 has been a busy year for Garden Square, despite the difficult climate for retail in general. We’ve hosted several very well attended events throughout the year, gaining great feedback from our customers. Christmas is always a hectic time, but we’re thoroughly enjoying all the festivities the season has to offer. We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you at Garden Square throughout 2020.”
